Throwback Thursday Photo, Nebraska State Fair

Flag made of apples at Nebraska State Fair

It’s State Fair Time! Today’s Throwback Thursday photos features elaborate exhibits created with homegrown Nebraska apples. Both exhibits were created by the Nebraska State Horticultural Society and the Horticulture Department at the University of Nebraska. The flag (above) was likely created in the mid to late 1940s and reflects the patriotic sediment of the home front during World War II. In the second image below, a young girl marvels at the apple tree created from apples during the 1950 Nebraska State Fair.
