HISTORICAL NOTE
Trinity Church was established in 1957 as a mission of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. A merger between the Congregational Christian Churches and the Evangelical and Reformed Church was consummated in 1961. This congregation became a part of the new national body, the United Church of Christ, and assumed the title Trinity United Church at that time. The congregation was unable to establish the stability necessary to sustain its operation. On November 15, 1970, the membership approved a motion for dissolution. On January 1, 1971, Trinity United Church was dissolved.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of the records of Trinity United Church, Lincoln, Nebraska, arranged in three series: 1) Consistory minutes, 1957-1968; 2) Correspondence, 1969-1970; and 3) Printed matter.
The consistory minutes are the minutes of the church council. The correspondence relates to the congregation’s operational problems and eventual dissolution. The bulk of the material details the administrative conduct of Trinity United Church and reflects the problems encountered by the congregation during its fourteen year history.
This material was loaned for microfilming by the Nebraska Conference, United Church of Christ, in July of 1974.
