BACKGROUND NOTE

Charles E. Williams graduated from Ashland High School at Ashland, Nebraska, in 1894.  He received his license to teach that same year.  Between 1894 and 1897, he taught in Ashland, Greenwood, Cheyenne County, and Tekamah, Nebraska.  He also served as the principal and superintendent at Greenwood for a time.  He was in the real estate business in Lincoln, Nebraska, for a short time in the early 1900’s.  It is unclear what became of Mr. Williams after this time.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one box of papers relating to the teaching career of Charles E. Williams, in Nebraska.  The materials include correspondence, certificates and contracts, school programs and ephemera, teaching resources, etc.  Items in the collection date from 1892-1905.
