BACKGROUND NOTE
Clinton D. Wildy, son of Albert and Caroline (Dueker) Wildy, was born on the family homestead near Alliance, Nebraska, on August 31, 1890. The family moved to Malinda, Nebraska, where Clinton’s mother served as Postmistress and his father took care of the horses for the local stagecoach. The family moved to Scottsbluff in 1901 so that Clinton and his sister, Ruby, could attend school.
Clinton Wildy eventually married Jewel Austin, and the couple had a daughter, Shirley. Clinton founded the real estate and insurance company, C.D. Wildy Co., in Scottsbluff. Clinton D. Wildy died on April 28, 1985. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery at Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing photocopies of reminiscences and writings by C.D. Wildy dating from 1975-1976. Included are a letter from Wildy to J.R. Seacrest reminiscing about growing up near Malinda, Nebraska, and a response letter from J.R. Seacrest. Also included are a brief history of the First United Methodist Church at Scottsbluff, prepared by C.D. Wildy for the Bicentennial program at the church, and a newspaper article about the sale of the Petite Hotel, owned by Albert and Ruby (Wildy) Petite.
