BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Delmar R. Te Selle, a Panama, Nebraska native, entered military service at Fort Crook, Nebraska on March 2, 1942. He embarked from the United States in April 1945 and served in France and England with the 12th Port Battalion. He arrived in Le Havre, France just in time for VE Day and was in England, awaiting transfer to Japan, when word of VJ Day was received. He was discharged from the military on October 4, 1945.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one volume entitled, “A Personal Record of United States Army Service from Aberdeen, Maryland, April 1945, to France and England, and Back to United States of America, Panama, Nebraska, 1945.” This reminiscence was written by Delmar R. Te Selle as a personal record of his World War II experiences in Europe. Te Selle describes the journey from the United States to Europe and his experiences and observations in France and England. As Te Selle arrived in Europe near the war’s end, many of his descriptions relate to sightseeing and contacts with the civilian population.
