BACKGROUND NOTE

Elinor Luella Baade, daughter of Edward and Mary (Zink) Baade, was born near Bennet, Nebraska, on January 1, 1915.  She graduated from Ceresco High School in 1932 and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University.  She taught for several years in rural schools and married James L. Brown in June of 1939.  She founded Midwest Publishing Company in 1953 and published over fifty educational books.  Brown was a member of the Nebraska Writers Guild and the Nebraska State Historical Society.  Elinor (Baade) Brown died on February 29, 2008 and was buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of one box containing writings and research by Elinor (Baade) Brown.  The bulk of the materials relate to her genealogical research on the Baade and Zink families.  The items in the collection date from approximately 1914 to 2004.
