BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE



Gertrude Bessie (Hennig) Reim was born September 13, 1896 near Tekamah, Burt County, Nebraska. She taught in Burt County rural grade schools and married a Burt County high school teacher, Herman Reim, on June 6, 1922. They had three sons, Herman Frederick (Fred), Kenneth Maurice, and Harold Max, all born near Memphis, Nebraska. Gertrude and Herman retired and moved to Ashland, Nebraska in 1954. Gertrude died on June 19, 1984.



Kenneth Maurice Reim was born on July 7, 1926, near Memphis, Saunders County, Nebraska. He married Ann Aronitz on November 10, 1973, in Nevada. He worked with the Nebraska Defense Corps and then attended the New Mexico School of Mines, graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mining Engineering. He earned a Masters of Science in Mining Engineering in 1951 from the University of Washington in Seattle. He served in the United States Army (1951-1953) and worked for private corporations in geology and mining development, until retirement in 1991.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of two boxes containing family correspondence (1962-1984) and Reim Family history/genealogical materials, 1974-2004. The correspondence is between Gertrude and her son, Kenneth, from 1962 until her death in 1984. Included with the letters are greeting cards and a few relevant newspaper clippings. The “Reim Family History” includes biographies of family members, along with pedigree charts and family group records with notes.
