SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one box of manuscript material arranged in three series:  1) Minutes, 1889-1930; 2) Attendance Reports, 1921 and 1923; and 3) Miscellany.  These records relate to the Sunday School conducted by the Methodist Episcopal Church of Glencoe, although the miscellany series contains some records pertaining to other church programs.  All of the documents in this collection are photocopies.

Series 1 consists of minutes, 1889-1930.  Weekly entries provide information on lesson plans; treasury notes of collections taken in and money paid out for supplies; attendance figures of officers, teachers, and students; and business conducted.  Annual reports at the end of some years provide summary figures.  The attendance reports of Series 2 cover the years 1921 and 1923.  The reports of 1921 list class title and names of teachers and students.  The records of 1923 show only total number of officers, teachers, and students in attendance.  The miscellany of Series 3 includes by-laws and membership lists of the Glencoe Society of Christian Endeavor, 1914; collection lists, 1917-1919; an 1892 Christmas Program; and listings of Glencoe cemetery lot purchasers.

About History Nebraska
History Nebraska was founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed History Nebraska from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director and CEO Jill Dolberg. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for History Nebraska.
