BACKGROUND NOTE
Born in West London, England, on November 20, 1932, Joseph G. Rosa worked for most of his career in the communications industry, but he was also an avid researcher and author, compiling over twenty-five books and numerous articles. The bulk of his writings dealt with the Wild West, many specifically relating to Wild Bill Hickok. Joseph G. Rosa died in Ruislip, England, on January 17, 2015.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing letters and clippings regarding Joseph G. Rosa’s biography of James Butler Hickok, They Called Him Wild Bill. The correspondence between Rosa and Donald Danker of the Nebraska State Historical Society dates from 1958 to 1967. Also included are photocopies of Rosa’s “The Saga of a Saddle,” Relics, Summer, 1969, and a review by Rosa of James D. Horan’s The Authentic Wild West – The Gunfighters, for The English Westerners’ Society publication, Tally Sheet, vol. 23, no. 4, July 1977.
