Born in Massachusetts around 1879, Margaret Bryan married Lauritz "Lawrence" Vold in 1905. According to census records, the couple was living in Boston in 1910. By 1915, the Volds were living in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and had two sons. The 1930 and 1940 census’ show the Volds living in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Lawrence Vold was a law professor. The couple then moved to San Francisco, California, where Lawrence served on the faculty of the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Lawrence Vold died in San Francisco in 1978. It is unclear when Margaret Vold died.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one folder containing mostly poetry and correspondence written by Margaret Vold. Most of the correspondence is written to Frances E. Duncombe of Lincoln, Nebraska, while Margaret and Lawrence were traveling. Also included are various poems written by Margaret Vold, as well as a few clippings about Lawrence Vold and their son, Robert. The bulk of the papers date from 1926-1948.
