SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one folder containing a set of reminiscences by Merlan Eugene Adams.  The reminiscences are actually a transcript of an oral history recorded in 1963.  Adams gives background information about his family; describes growing up on a ranch in Pierce County; moving to Omaha and attending the Trans-Mississippi Exposition; working with a threshing outfit in South Dakota; working for the Union Pacific Railroad; working at the Valley (Nebraska) telephone office and the Valley stockyards; working for the Great Western Sugar Company; growing potatoes and melons; being elected to the state legislature in 1932; serving as president of the Nebraska Potato Growers Association; describes the blizzard of 1949, etc.
