BACKGROUND NOTE

Born at Byron, Ohio on May 15, 1867, Nora Ann Calvin was the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Ewan) Calvin.  The Calvin family left Ohio and settled in Nemaha County, Nebraska around 1870.  Nora married William Gore on August 25, 1886.  They settled on a homestead near Ough, Dundy County, Nebraska.  The couple had four children, Stella, Eva, Floy and Etta Flo.  By 1900 the census lists the Gore family in Johnson County, Nebraska.  Sometime before 1910 the family moved to Colorado.  Nora (Calvin) Gore died on April 30, 1937 at Greeley, Colorado.  She is buried in Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley, Colorado.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of one folder containing copies of papers relating to Nora (Calvin) Gore and her family.  Included are photocopies of letters and photographs, transcripts of letters, and copies of related maps, genealogical materials and related documents.  The materials relate to the Gore family homesteading in Dundy County, Nebraska.
