BACKGROUND NOTE
Warren E. Chesney was born in April of 1828 possibly in South Carolina as his wife, Carrie (Hogue) was born there 10 April 1834 and they were married 5 February 1855. In of 1862 they moved to Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska, where they lived for twelve years after which they moved to DeWitt, Saline County. His wife died 12 October 1884 and was buried in Beatrice with her children. Mr. Chesney was a charter member of the Beatrice and DeWitt Masonic lodges. He died 30 May 1893 and was buried in DeWitt, leaving six children, the youngest of whom was 17.
