History Day Resources

We’re rolling out some new ways to support and encourage students statewide as they develop their History Day projects!

If you are a History Day student who loves to pick a topic, you might think about becoming an editor like History Nebraska’s, David Bristow. When we sat down with him to do an interview on how HE chooses a topic, we realized why he is a pro. If you feel like the topic choices are too many or too few watch and find out some good tips.

If you are interested in Lewis and Clark for this year’s theme of Communication, you won’t want to miss this short video with Doug Friedli of the Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark Visitor Center. He walks us through the Visitor Center to share some topic tips and primary source ideas.

And if you are a student and really want to hear from other students, find out what these four students from Ralston Middle School have to say about their process of choosing a topic. These 8th graders at Ralston Middle School participated in History Day last year.
