The North Platte Valley Japanese community has been around since 1900, yet most have lived almost their entire lives under that radar. They could not become U.S. citizens until 1952 when most were 50 and older. Few Nebraskans know about these immigrants and their experiences in this state. Now is the time for their stories to be included in Nebraska’s history. Sandra Reddish, Nebraska State Historical Society Historic Sites Coordinator, will be telling their story.
