7:00–7:45 pm: guided tour of the Piecing Together the Past Exhibit at NHM (Max 30 registrants; registration is free! Fill out the form below for the museum exhibit tour.)

 

Have you ever wondered what an archeologist does in their day to day? Did you know that the State Archeology Office exists to preserve, explore, interpret, and protect Nebraska’s archeological resources? Are you interested in hearing about the deep history of Nebraska?

Join History Nebraska for a FREE Evening with an Archeologist,Thursday, Sep 22, 2022, and get an exclusive behind the scenes look into the State Archeology Office headquarters located at 5050 North 32nd Street, Lincoln, NE, and a guided tour of the Nebraska History Museum’s “Piecing Together the Past” exhibit, located at 131 Centennial Mall North in downtown Lincoln.

Doors open from 5:00–8:00 pm at both locations. Additional fun activities will be ongoing at both locations throughout the evening.

At the State Archeology Office, staff will offer a one-of-a-kind glimpse into Nebraska’s archeological collections, describe the work of the Archeology team, and answer your questions about Nebraska’s past. No registration is required to tour the Archeology office.

After visiting the Archeology headquarters, head downtown to the Nebraska History Museum and explore 13,000 years of Nebraska history! Hear from State Archeology Office team members as they give a guided tour of “Piecing Together the Past” beginning at 7:00 pm. Staff will be on hand to talk about artifacts, Nebraska history, and how archeologists do what they do. Space for the tour is limited to the first 30 registrants. Parking is available for free at the 5050 North 32nd Street State Archeology Office. Metered parking at the Nebraska History Museum is free after 6:00 pm. Garage parking is also available nearby, at 101 North 14th St., 233 South 13th St., or 1225 P St. Downtown Lincoln garages are free for the first hour and $1.25/hour after that. Round-trip transportation between buildings will also be available at no cost, upon completion of a waiver form.
