Graphic Designer

Description

The Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS) is seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join the team as a Graphic Designer. This teammate will work as part of a dedicated team of Marketing and Communications professionals, assisting teams across the agency by producing thoughtful and capitative marketing material to better communicate with the public and serving to fulfill the agency’s mission.

 

Job Duties

  • Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud products to produce digital assets, including but not limited to: social media, monitors, email, digital newsletters and website elements Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud products to produce a wide array of creative printed and three-dimensional products including, but not limited to: exhibit graphics/labels, brochures, awards, flyers, posters, business cards, magazines, signage, gift shop items and business forms.
  • Ensure consistent on-brand results across the agency.
  • Assist teammates throughout the agency with a variety of projects focused on delivering products and services to Nebraska’s public such as special edition books and presentation materials.
  • Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to: assisting with public events, event photography & videography and participation in agency-wide working groups

Qualifications / Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Vocational/Technical diploma or Associates Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, graphic arts, digital media, videography, or related field and at least one year of experience in conducting public relations, information, or graphic art activities. Required experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred: WordPress, Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects, Video/Audio editing, HTML

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to establish priorities and make decisions independently.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be committed to the agency’s values and demonstrate them regularly in their work

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
