BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Frank J. Rosenberg was born in Columbiana, Ohio, on August 16, 1850. He graduated from Upper Sandusky High School and then studied at the Northwestern Normal at Adrian, Ohio. He taught school for two years and then entered the Eclectic Medical Institute at Cincinnati, graduating in 1873. That same year, Rosenberg was married to Anna M. Case of Wyandott County, Ohio. Their marriage produced five children.
After graduation from medical school, Rosenberg and his wife moved to Roanoke, Woodford County, Illinois, where he practiced medicine for several years. As a representative of a group of Roanoke citizens who were contemplating settlement in Nebraska, Rosenberg went to Plum Creek, Dawson County, Nebraska to view the area. A year later Rosenberg and his family settled in Plum Creek, remaining a resident of Lexington and Plum Creek for sixty-two years. He continued his medical practice in Nebraska, and also helped in promoting irrigation and farming in the area. He died in 1946 at the age of ninety-five.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one reel of microfilm containing two account books dating from 1888-1901. The items document the accounts of Dr. Frank J. Rosenberg’s patients in the Plum Creek and Lexington area. Patients’ names are indexed at the beginning of each volume and each account shows date of payment, what payment was for, and the amount paid. The account books were loaned for microfilming by the Dawson County Historical Society in September of 1979.
