SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The manuscript portion of this collection consists of a two-part autobiography by Eugene W. The reminiscence discusses Babcock's childhood in western Nebraska, farming and ranching, a cattle drive, his experiences as an educator, and his service in World War II. All items are photocopies; the originals are not in the NSHS collections.

The photo component [RG5198.PH] consists of three images of Babcock in his U.S. Navy uniform, including a formal portrait, and a picture with his daughter, Geraldine.

Note: A collection of items relating to Babcock's military service is housed at the Nebraska History Museum. Not all artifacts are on display; researchers must call for an appointment before scheduling a visit.
