BACKGROUND NOTE

Incorporated in 1969, the main purpose of Justice, Inc. was to provide assistance for indigents charged with criminal offenses, with an emphasis on minor or misdemeanor offenses.  They also tried to develop a broader awareness of the need for more equal and just treatment of persons who are at a disadvantage because of social, economic, racial or religious status.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of various records of Justice, Inc., including articles of incorporation, correspondence, financial information, legal paperwork, news releases, clippings, etc.  The bulk of the collection dates from 1969 to 1977.  The collection is unprocessed and no other inventory is available at this time.
