4th of July

Seward is known across Nebraska as the 4th of July City. Since 1868 they have sponsored a yearly 4th of July celebration nearly every year.

Are you ready for the 4th of July? The folks in today’s Throwback Thursday photograph certainly are prepared. A man and a large group of young girls ride in a new touring car decked out in American flags and patriotic bunting. They are parked in front of the F.J. O’Hara Buick Dealership in Spalding, Nebraska in about 1915. The group was likely participating in a local parade.

Ku Klux Klan members carry an American flag in a parade in Gering, NE, ca.1920s. RG4909-1-29
