BACKGROUND NOTE
The Exchange Hotel at Ashland, Nebraska, opened on July 4, 1880. Elder Clarke served as the first proprietor of the hotel. He was followed by C.B. Hackney and H.K. Dunbar. The Exchange Hotel burned down in 1887.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one volume, a guest register for the Exchange Hotel at Ashland, Nebraska. The register records the date, name and address of guest, and sometimes the room number assigned. C.B. Hackney is listed as the proprietor of the hotel at this time. Entries in the register date from August 26, 1881 to October 12, 1882.
