Join the Nebraska History Museum to earn your next merit badge! Our workshops, led by certified merit badge counselors, offer a unique blend of history, fun, and learning. Explore our exhibits, hear from experts, and engage in hands-on learning opportunities as you take steps to earn your badge.
Workshop registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please sign up each Scout individually. Please review our Scout workshop policies before signing up for a workshop.

FAQ
How much do merit badge workshops cost?
- Merit badge workshops cost $15.00 per scout and include admission to the museum
- Adults wishing to attend the workshops with their scout will be charged the regular museum admission rate ($7 +tax for adults and $4 +tax for children).
- Scoutmasters will receive free admission. Please note this does not apply to assistant scoutmasters.
Is there a group minimum/maximum?
Merit badge workshops with fewer than 10 registrants will be canceled. Scouts will be notified of any cancellation as soon as possible.
Do scouts have to register in advance?
All scouts must register prior to the workshop date.
Are chaperones required?
Parents are not required to stay on-site with their students but are highly encouraged to. If parents do not stay on site, their child must be accompanied by their troop leader. The troop leader is responsible for ensuring students’ safety and behavior, as well as coordinating pick up after the workshop ends.
Where can we park?
- There are no dedicated parking spots at the Nebraska History Museum. Metered parking and parking garages are available around downtown Lincoln. Please visit Park and Go for additional information. Parking availability and pricing may be different on Husker football game days.
- Please note that while not a guarantee, our visitor services team can provide change up to $2.
- Saturday bus services are available via StarTran. The closest two stops are “P and 11th Street” and “N and Centennial Mall.” Both of these stops will require you to walk a few blocks to the museum.
Pre-work
- To earn their merit badge, scouts must complete the required pre-work. You will find the pre-work assignments under each badge workshop, along with recommended resources. All pre-work must be completed prior to the workshop and is at the discretion of badge counselors.
- Scouts may bring in a printed copy of their work or email it prior to the workshop date. Scouts should send this pre-work to hn.museumeducation@nebraska.gov.
- If Scouts do not complete the pre-work assignments, merit badge counselors will only sign off on requirements completed during the workshop.
Earning Their blue card
At the end of the workshop, counselors will approve the completed requirements.
Please note that the Nebraska History Museum will not provide physical blue cards. Scouts may bring their own blue card, but it must be filled out. Staff will sign off completed requirements on Scoutbook within five (5) business days.
If bringing a physical copy of the pre-work, it is the responsibility of the scout to show the staff.
