If you are not already aware, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America takes place this year on July 4!
As we all look to celebrate the US 250, here is one way Nebraskans celebrated the US 200th anniversary in 1975, with a really big tapestry. At the 1975 annual meeting of the Nebraska Council of Home Extension Clubs, county representatives were presented with a challenge: represent your county on a square foot of fabric. With over 11,700 yards of yarn and 1.4 million stitches, every county was represented on this colorful Nebraska Tapestry. Learn more and see your county’s panel.
Just like in 1975, many organizations throughout Nebraska and the United States are planning fun activities and challenges throughout the entire year for Nebraskans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
