SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing letters of Robert T. Meredith from 1917-1919. The letters written by Meredith were sent to his sister Mamie. They document military life during Meredith’s service in World War I. The bulk of the letters (Oct. 1917 to Sept. 1918) were written from Camp Cody, Deming, New Mexico. They discuss camp life, daily activities, requests for food and clothing, etc. The remainder of the letters (Dec. 1918 to June 1919) were written from LeMans, France, and discuss daily life, local landmarks, etc. Also included in the collection are several French souvenir booklets and a “Roll of Honor” certificate issued to Robert Meredith on June 20, 1921 by the State of Nebraska in recognition of his military service.
