SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one box of records documenting the history of 4-H in Nebraska up to 1960.  These records were originally compiled into a scrapbook that was in the NSHS Library [630.62 F83].  Due to the condition of the scrapbook, these materials were removed and placed into folders.  The collection consists of three folders.  The first folder contains information about the history of 4-H in the state of Nebraska.  The other two folders contain histories of 4-H clubs arranged alphabetically by county.



The majority of 4-H records are held in the UNL Archives at Love Library as part of the UNL Agricultural Extension Service records.

About History Nebraska
History Nebraska was founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed History Nebraska from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director and CEO Jill Dolberg. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for History Nebraska.
