HISTORICAL NOTE
The Central Grain Company built the first elevator at Archer, Nebraska, ca.1889, which then passed through several ownerships. E.W. Lehr apparently was one of the several owners.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of letters from E.W. Lehr, grain dealer at Archer, Merrick County, Nebraska, to Harris and Company, a wholesale grain firm in Omaha, Nebraska. The correspondence dates from March 29 to December 14, 1897. The material in this collection relates to the financial activities of this firm. Various bid prices for grain are mentioned in the correspondence.
