BACKGROUND NOTE
This organization, representing business interests throughout the state, was begun in 1912 as the Nebraska Manufacturers’ Association. In 1937 its name was changed to the Associated Industries of Nebraska, probably in an effort to join together Nebraska’s manufacturing and agricultural interests. The Associated Industries of Nebraska attempted to provide its members with information on legislation affecting manufacturing and/or agricultural interests. Another project of the organization was the publicizing of benefits gained for businesses which located or relocated in Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The bulk of this collection consists of letters sent by the Associated Industries of Nebraska dating from 1937-1949. These letters and bulletins sent to the membership, provide information on legislative bills and issues of the period and document programs concerned with publicizing Nebraska. The first folder contains bulletins entitled, “The Unicameral,” dating from 1943-1945, which discusses bills introduced, hearing dates, and their progress. The last folder in the collection is comprised of reports on legislative bills under consideration, addresses delivered before meetings, and programs of annual meetings.
Note: Some material published by the organization can be found in the library collection.
