HISTORICAL NOTE

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Unadilla, Nebraska was first organized on June 22, 1873 with 21 charter members under the leadership of Rev. J.B. Johnson. Services were initially held in a local schoolhouse and later in a Unadilla store. The first church structure was dedicated at special services conducted by Elders J.B. Johnson and Cyrus Alton on October 19, 1879. After several renovations, a new edifice was dedicated on March 30, 1947 under the pastorship of Wallace W. Pomplum, Jr.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists two reels of microfilm containing 28 volumes of the records of the Christian Church of Unadilla, Nebraska, arranged in six series: 1) Church Minutes: 1873-1971; 2) Church Register and Records, 1908-1971; 3) Church Treasurer’s Records, 1914-1975; 4) Christian Women’s Board of Mission Minutes, 1885-1919; 5) Christian Women’s Board of Missions Treasurer’s Records, 1885-1925; and 6) Miscellany, 1873-1973, and undated. These records relate to the activities of the church, 1873-1975. Included are minutes and proceedings of meetings, rolls of members, baptisms, marriages, officers, and ministers and material relating to church history and financial records.
