BACKGROUND NOTE
The Crowell Lumber and Grain Company was originally founded by Christopher C. Crowell, who came to Nebraska in 1869. He held various other business concerns before founding the Crowell Lumber and Grain Company. The headquarters of Crowell Lumber and Grain Company was later moved to Omaha. The business was sold in 1925 and became the Rivett Lumber & Coal Company.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one volume containing the Articles of Incorporation and By Laws, as well as minutes of the Board of Directors and Stockholders meetings, of the Crowell Lumber and Grain Company of Blair, Nebraska. The constitution and by laws were adopted on January 6, 1885. Minutes of meetings contained in the volume date from January 6, 1885 to February 7, 1911. Subjects covered in the meeting minutes include amendments to the bylaws, election of officers, issuing of company stock, financial reports, etc.
