SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection contains various materials relating to the Nebraska Farmers Institutes including various meeting programs from 1890, 1892, 1893, 1899, and 1900. The programs are from various locations around Nebraska, including Pender, West Point, Blue Springs, Westcott, Wahoo, Neligh, Valley, Ansley, Lincoln, Columbus, Table Rock, Oakland, Sidney, Friend, and Norfolk. The programs list the schedule of lectures and speakers on various agricultural topics. Also included is a copy of a book chapter entitled, “Farmers’ Institutes in Nebraska” by F.W. Taylor. Taylor was a professor of horticulture at the University of Nebraska and superintendent of farmers’ institutes in Nebraska. The book chapter describes the organization and the philosophy of the Institutes. Also included are papers on forage crops and timber culture in Nebraska.
