BACKGROUND NOTE
The articles of organization were adopted in 1890 but this congregation was not actually established until 1893. Served at first by ministers from Curtis and Wellfleet, it used the Methodist Church building in Stockville for services. In July of 1905 a Congregational church building was dedicated.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The records of the First Congregational Church of Stockville, Nebraska, consist of two volumes on one reel of microfilm dating from 1890-1982. The first volume contains minutes of meetings from 1890 through 1946, a list of members compiled in 1981, and a list of registrants at the 50th anniversary celebration in 1940. The second volume contains a register of members, 1895-1982, a list of deaths, 1949-1982, and minutes of meetings, 1946-1982. This collection was loaned for microfilming in January of 1983.
