BACKGROUND NOTE
Robert Gage, a Lincoln firefighter, discovered these letters while cleaning out an old trunk that belonged to his father, Logan. Steve Gage transcribed the letters. The family donated the collection to History Nebraska in 2014.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one folder containing nineteen letters written to and from members of the Gage family dating from 1856-1926. Most of the letters pre-date the family coming to Nebraska, but a few are sent to/from Fullerton and Lincoln, Nebraska. Also included are five envelopes and a spiral bound notebook containing scanned copies of the letters/envelopes and some notes about the letters.
