SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of items relating to the Garman Family and Garman, Nebraska. Includes a certificate commissioning Esaias P. Garman as postmaster of Garman, Nebraska (1887), certificate of recognition upon Esaias’ retirement as postmaster of Garman, Nebraska (1893), and a photocopy from the Postmaster General’s record book showing Esaias as postmaster of Garman. Also contains a photocopy of sheet music for “Nebraska, the Lily of the West,” written in 1894 by Sylvanus Garman (son of Esaias), and at one time considered for the official Nebraska State Song.
