BACKGROUND NOTE
H.E. Palmer, Son & Company was incorporated as a general insurance agency at Omaha, Nebraska, on April 1, 1908. Jay D. Foster and Joseph Barker held the stock of the corporation, which was formed to take over the business of the partnership of H.E. Palmer, Son & Company. On July 12, 1912, the name of the company was changed to Foster-Barker Company. On June 30, 1941, the Foster-Barker Company was dissolved.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection of the records of the H.E. Palmer, Son & Company and Foster-Barker Company is contained in one box and arranged in two series: 1) Minutes of Stockholders and Directors, 1908-1941; and 2) Stock Certificate Book, 1908-1912. The bulk of this collection consists of the minutes of the meetings of the stockholders and directors, which are complete from the company’s incorporation in 1908 until its dissolution in 1941. A copy of the articles of incorporation and by-laws of the company are also included. A stock certificate book of H.E. Palmer, Son & Company covers the years 1908-1912.
