BACKGROUND NOTE
Henry Lehnhoff was born December 10, 1871, at Louisville, Nebraska. He attended the local public school and in 1891 attended the Congregational Academy at Weeping Water, Nebraska. In 1892 he entered the preparatory course at the University of Nebraska and completed two years before entering the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1897 with is B.A. degree. Lehnhoff then entered the Medical Department at Northwestern University, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine in 1901. He spent sixteen months as an intern at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, and then in June of 1902, he returned to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he started his own private practice. He spent the rest of his career practicing internal medicine in Lincoln and for a time served as president of the Lancaster County Medical Society. Dr. Henry Lehnhoff died on December 16, 1952, and is buried in Lincoln Memorial Park, Lincoln, Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of three folders of papers relating to the career of Dr. Henry Lehnhoff. The first folder contains typescripts of speeches given by Dr. Lehnhoff on various subjects, including politics, mores, commencements, and medicine. The second folder contains two articles by and one about Dr. Lehnhoff. The last folder holds miscellaneous items, including a biographical sketch, a masonic membership certificate and a publication, inscribed to Lehnhoff by Arthur J. Weaver, on the presentation of the statues of J. Sterling Morton and William Jennings Bryan at the U.S. Capitol.
