SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The manuscript portion of this collection consists of a handwritten autobiography of Dr. Henry Bates, written at St. Paul, Nebraska, 1916-1917. The memoir describes the history of the Bates and related families, moving to and settling in Nebraska in 1859, and life on the frontier.
Note: The photo component of the collection [RG5156.PH] includes two studio portraits of Dr. Henry Bates, and one group photograph of Bates family members.
