A native of Saunders County, Nebraska, Ira A. Giffin served with Company E, 1st Nebraska Regiment of Volunteers. A victim of typhoid fever, Giffin died at Manila, Philippines Island on October 20, 1898.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one item, an auction notice from 1898. This notice lists all of the personal effects of Privates Ira A. Giffin and Earl W. Osterhout, 1st Nebraska soldiers, who were victims of typhoid fever while serving in Manila, Philippine Islands, during the Spanish-American War.
