SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



The manuscript portion of the collection consists of misc. items relating to Jack Bair (Lincoln, Neb.), including four letters written from Jack to his parents during his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Also included are Jack’s 1942 Lincoln High School diploma; a copy of his Notice of Separation from the U.S. Naval Service; and his U.S. Navy Honorable Discharge certificate.



Note:  The photo component [RG5668.PH] consists of five (5) photograph albums and approximately 140 loose photos. The photo albums relate to the Bair family of Lincoln, Nebraska, ca. 1920s-1950s. The loose photographs include snapshots and studio portraits of various family members and friends of the Bair family.

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
