BACKGROUND NOTE
Born in Tennessee in 1848, James K. Young served with the 11th Tennessee Cavalry during the Civil War. He also served with the 1st Nebraska Infantry. Young married Mary Miller at Lincoln, Nebraska, on July 12, 1875. The couple lived in Frontier County, Nebraska, for a number of years before moving to Woodward County, Oklahoma, around 1894. James K. Young died on November 28, 1916.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one folder containing several land documents relating to land owned by James K. Young in Lancaster County, Nebraska. Also included is one travel document relating to Young’s service with the Nebraska 1st Regiment. The items date from 1863 to 1878.
