SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of a contractor’s record book documenting various workers paid and other expenses incurred during the building of the addition to the Lincoln Post Office building in 1915-1916. Jasper Herman Wiese was a well-known Omaha contractor who worked on numerous state and federal building projects in Nebraska and throughout the Midwest. Some of his other Nebraska projects included work on the Nebraska Capitol Building, the balloon houses at Fort Omaha, the South Omaha Library, the U.S. Post Office building at Hastings, and the U.S. Post Office at York, Nebraska. Other out-of-state projects included work on post offices and federal buildings in Detroit, Michigan; Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sheridan, Wyoming; and Fort Dodge, Iowa.
