BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Jeannie E. Lowdon was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 27, 1899. After receiving a B.A. in English from Hastings College and an M.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she worked for the University of Nebraska Extension Division for fourteen years. She taught English for two years in Lincoln schools and then taught at York College, Doane College, Buena Vista (Iowa) College, and Aurora (Illinois) College. In 1969 Lowdon returned to Lincoln where she wrote and edited educational materials. She died in Lincoln on November 27, 1983.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of copies of two Christmas letters and two greeting cards written by Jeannie Lowdon to Dr. Rosalind Morris. In the 1966 letter, Lowdon recounts her travels to England and describes her experiences seeing various theatrical performances. In the 1969 letter, Lowdon discusses her decision to resign her teaching position to take up writing and editing educational materials in Lincoln.
