SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection contains various papers of John E. Land, Blaine County, Nebraska, including a brief reminiscence about Land’s pioneer experiences (ca. 1872-1913). The reminiscences describe living in a sod house, grasshopper plagues, etc. Also included in the collection are several business records of Land’s dating from 1920s-1941. These business records include real estate mortgages, insurance documents, an application for a cattle brand, and a public sale bill for land. Other miscellaneous items include the 1913 bylaws of the Lincoln, Nebraska, Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) Lodge; a time book from 1942 that records hours worked by Land, as well as other workers; a piece of stationery letterhead from the Lindell Hotel (Lincoln, Neb.); and a travel brochure describing detailed sightseeing routes through Nebraska and into South Dakota.
