SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing a nine page, typescript reminiscence written by John Edward Walton, August 1, 1939. Entitled, “Memories as a Child,” the account deals with early childhood memories before and during the Civil War. Included are details about a steamboat journey up the Missouri River in 1865, including information about the sinking of the steamboat Bertrand. Walton also mentions an Indian attack. The reminiscence was published in The Superior Express newspaper at Superior, Nebraska, on April 2, 1981. A copy of the newspaper clipping is included in the collection.
