Born February 1, 1858, near Monmouth, Illinois, John Renwick Spicer moved to Beatrice, Nebraska, in 1890. He operated a harness and tackle business in Beatrice. John R. Spicer died in Beatrice on January 29, 1950. He is buried in Evergreen Home Cemetery at Beatrice, Nebraska.
