SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of Martin Vivian’s overland trail daily journal, 1850, in typescript form. The typescript was edited by Walker D. Wyman.
Vivian left Lafayette County, Missouri on April 1st and traveled on the Kaw, Big Blue, and Little Blue Rivers to the Platte. After reaching Ft. Laramie on June 11th, he traveled through South Pass and Hudspeth Cutoff before reaching Humboldt Sink on August 10th. This journal appears as entry #996 in Merrill Mattes’ Platte River Road Narratives.
