BACKGROUND NOTE
Born on a farm in Lancaster County on January 20, 1913, Marvin Ketelhut was the son of William and Nora (Burge) Ketelhut. He attended the University of Nebraska in Agriculture and then farmed most of his life. Marvin Ketelhut died on February 17, 1999. He is buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one folder containing reminiscences (typescript and newspaper clipping) by Marvin Ketelhut relating to his experiences growing up on a farm in rural Lancaster County, Nebraska, ca. 1918-1940. Topics include the Great Depression, drought, changing methods of farming, etc. Also included are photocopies of several letters from members of Nebraska’s senatorial delegation: J. Robert Kerry, J. James Exon, and former senator Carl T. Curtis. The folder contains copies of two other letters by Ketelhut describing some of his experiences on the farm.
