BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Born at Eaton, New York in 1839, Melville DeLancey Landon was a journalist, lecturer and humorist. He wrote and compiled several books of humor under the pen name Eli Perkins. He died at his home in Yonkers, New York in 1910.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one item, a four page newspaper-type promotional advertisement for lecturer Eli Perkins (aka Melville D. Landon) during his appearance in Oakdale, Nebraska, on November 17, 1884.The advertisement includes various short writings and observations by Perkins regarding his experiences. It also includes numerous testimonials for his lectures from various church, community and college groups from around the country.
