The earliest Constitution in the collection was adopted on March 28, 1925. The charter membership included: Cotner College, Doane College, Grand Island College, Hastings College, Midland College, Nebraska Central College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Union College, and York College. Dana College was admitted to membership in 1931.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection contains the Constitution of the Nebraska Association of Church Colleges (various dates and revisions), treasurer’s records of the NACC, correspondence, board minutes, etc. The materials date from 1944-1970. Since the work of the NACC was organized on the calendar of the academic year (September of one year through June of the following year), the documents in this collection are similarly arranged (e.g., 1960-1961). Whenever possible, the materials in each folder are arranged chronologically.

About History Nebraska
History Nebraska was founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed History Nebraska from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director and CEO Jill Dolberg. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for History Nebraska.
