BACKGROUND NOTE
Chartered in Omaha on September 3, 1893, the Nebraska Children’s Home Society was organized to “secure homes for homeless and dependent or destitute children, and to receive, control and dispose of such children by placing them in good homes.” It was as chapter of the National Children’s Home Society. A board of fifteen trustees managed the Nebraska Children’s Home Society, along with the following officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and State Superintendent. Their office was located at 514 Brown Block, Omaha, Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of various items relating to the Nebraska Children’s Home Society, including a treasurer’s ledger, an informational brochure containing excerpts from an annual report, blank application and recommendation forms, and several return envelopes. The materials date from ca. 1896-1921.
